Virtual library

Task

A large collection of images had no structured home. Files sat in folders, and finding something by meaning was impossible.

Solution

I built a web catalog in Django with image uploads, tags, categories, search and filtering. File storage is separate from the metadata, so the catalog stays fast as the library grows.

What was done

• Generated the interface mockup with a neural network to save money
• Built the front end from the mockup
• Built a web image catalog in Django
• Added uploads, tags and categories
• Added search and filtering
• Separated file storage from metadata to stay fast as the library grows

Result

The collection is now searchable. The right image is found by tags in seconds, with no more browsing through folders.
